This is an interlull weekend thus the fewer picks. On top of that, most of those international matches happen on on the days before and after the weekend.
The biggest match that does happen is the international friendly between Germany and England. While the Germans have wobbled in their Euro qualification since winning the World Cup, losing to Poland and Ireland in their group, England won all 10 qualification matches. This could be a bit misleading, as England have accomplished this feat before only to bomb out of the proper tournament. Although England are a good side and should probably make the semis, it also a turbulent squad at the moment. Hodgson has called up a host of EPL players who have played well this season, particularly from Spurs and Leicester, but haven't played much football at the international level. Also all those new additions are in danger of losing their spots, rightly or wrongly, once Rooney, Sterling, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Delph, Jones, etc come back from injury. On the German side, while a few younger talents are getting a runout, the core of the team is still there from Brazil. While England needs to figure out if their lineup is Kane, Vardy, or both, Germany doesn't have a recognized striker, often using Gotze as a false-9. This one is definitely worth watching.
The highlight of the weekend is the kickoff of the USL and my new hometown team FC Cincinnati's first match. All four of the USL teams that are in this recap are odds on to make the playoffs, Charlotte only missed out by one point last season. Their home form and both teams' attractive style of play should make for an entertaining opener. FC Cincinnati is also walking into a match with a team solid home form, they had the second-best overall defense last season and didn't lose a home match. For the club's first competitive match anything could happen.
